Click any member photo or name for more information.| Solomon Abraham |  | Solomon graduated from California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo) with a Civil Engineer major. He has been working for the last 2 years with Parsons Traffic and Transportation department as senior design engineer and task manager. Previously, he worked for 10 years with Willdan Engineering firm in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Ventura offices in Traffic and Transportation departments as project design manager, design engineer, and drafter. He was solely responsible for the scope and design of traffic engineering projects for private and public agencies. Solomon has been involved with Toastmasters for about 4 years. He enjoys playing soccer, running, bike riding, and relaxing at his favorite coffee place.

| | Michael Bertram, President, CC |  | Michael has a B.S. in Computer Science. He is an associate systems analyst for SANDAG. He has an interest in Robotics, open source software. He also enjoys spending time with family and visiting monasteries.
Michael recently completed his 10th speech and earned his Competent Communicator (CC). He will celebrate this achievement by visiting his favorite monastery, St. Anthony, located in Florence, Arizona. Note: Going to such places is a hobby of his. Michael likes to visit the entire grounds of a monastery, as much as is allowed (some areas are off limits), and says he enjoys photographing chapels the most.

| | Dan Conaty, Advanced TM Silver |  | Dan Conaty is an Environmental Planner with Parsons, an international engineering and environmental consulting firm based in Pasadena, California.
He has 25 years environmental compliance experience including land use impact evaluations, planning, development site assessments, and permitting support for major construction projects. He has been involved with Toastmasters for the past 10 years: 2 years with Azteca Toastmasters and 8 with City Speakers.
Dan enjoys playing soccer and spending quality time with his family.

| | Linda Guzzo, CC |  | Linda has been a university administrator at San Diego State University since 1997. She recently joined the Aztec Business Alliance of the College of Business (CBA) and is responsible for generating new internships, MBA consulting projects, and job opportunities for CBA students. She describes herself as an urban dweller who feels most comfortable being "in the middle of everything." Linda developed her distinctive accent on the streets of Brooklyn, New York during her teen years, and moved to San Francisco in the 1970's. She has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from San Francisco State University and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco.

| | Pauline Jimenez, Advanced TM Silver |  | Pauline loves the supportive atmosphere of her home club. "I joined 20 years ago when I was scared to death, and they gave me the freedom to fly without a net," she says. She enjoys mentoring other members and having new opportunities to learn. Pauline is an executive secretary for the City of San Diego--an illustrious 33-year career, and still going. She is also an avid backpacker and outings leader for the Sierra Club. Her other hobbies include folk music, barbershop singing, acoustic guitar, harmonica, and studying native California plants. Oh, and she just recently discovered kayaking. Quite a gal on the go!

| | David Manela, Advanced TM Silver |  | David has been a member of City Speakers for over 10 years and has earned the level of Advanced Communicator Silver. He has served in numerous leadership positions, including President, Vice President Education, and Vice President Public Relations. He enjoys the warm, friendly and supportive environment provided by the club, as well as the fun and interesting topics that are presented. David has received great benefits from Toastmasters and has become a more effective communicator both at work and outside work. He has a degree in Civil Engineering and is a Project Manager with the City of San Diego managing public buildings and park projects; he uses his communication and leadership skills on a daily basis. David enjoys gourmet food and wine, barbecues with friends, listens to music, and plays jazz piano. |

| | Amy Moberly, VP of Education, CC |  | Amy Moberly is a librarian and adjunct professor at California Western School of Law. She joined City Speakers Toastmasters because she enjoys public speaking but needed to hone her skills. She says that the supportive yet informational nature of Toastmasters meetings has helped immeasurably in her working toward her speaking goals. Amy is currently a graduate student at Bethel Theological Seminary, and has a husband, son, and a rabbit.

| | Tim Nguyen, Sergeant-At-Arms |  | | Tim Nguyen has been with Toastmasters since the beginning of 2009. Professionally, he is a Facilities Financing Planner in San Diegos City Planning & Community Investment Department (CPCI), where he is the liaison between the City Planning & Facilities Financing Divisions. For the past 2 ½ years, Tim has actively been involved with VANG, a non-profit organization that promotes volunteerism, education, networking, and leadership. He currently serves as Assistant Director. Tim has a degree in Urban & Regional Planning from Cal Poly University and is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Southern California (USC). Tims interests include USC & Chargers football, American politics & international relations, and traveling. Tim is of Vietnamese decent, was born in Hong Kong, and has lived in Southern California for 99% of his life. He was engaged in Summer 2009. |

| | Rick Peterson, VP of Membership, Advanced TM Silver |  | Rick Peterson works for the U.S. Navy as a Human Resources Assistant, specializing in employment information, resumes, and job announcements. He is also the membership chairman of the San Diego Writers/Editors Guild, a non-profit group that supports and encourages local writers. He is a former trumpeter and a retired member of the Naval Reserve. Rick has been a City Speakers member for 10 years and has held several Executive Committee posts. He is an avid reader, enjoys purchasing art, and bicycling.

| | Gulsum Rustemoglu, Secretary |  | Gulsum Rustemoglu is an Environmental Project Manager at Ecology & Environment, working on feasibility studies and CEQA/NEPA environmental documentation involving solar, wind, and variety of renewable energy projects. She has a Master's degree in City Planning (2004) and a Master of Arts degree in English and Comparative Literature (2001) from San Diego State University. Prior to her planning career, she worked as Assistant Manager at SDSU Montezuma Publishing. Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, she has been living in San Diego since 1998. She is passionate about the depth of public planning in the U.S. and joined Toastmasters to improve her public speaking and leadership skills. Gulsum is married with two children and has visited London, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Eastern Europe. She also likes to cook Mediterrenean food and French bakery.

| | Allan Trowbridge, VP of Public Relations, CC |  | Allan Trowbridge is an architect and associate with Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects, which specializes in life science and advanced technology facilities. He joined City Speakers in January 2007 and has found it to be a challenging and rewarding experience. The support of Toastmasters and its members has contributed to improving his confidence and enthusiasm for public speaking. Allan is married with four children and is a huge San Diego Padres and Chargers fan. After his kids have been put to bed, he enjoys reading novels.

He has 5 years of both project management and long-range planning experience, including hydraulic water modeling for major construction projects. Previously he worked for 15 years with Boeing on research and development for defense and space projects. He has been involved with City Speakers Toastmasters for the past 4 years. Michael enjoys reading biographies and science fiction, photography, and travel.
